Answer from Lauren B. at the Gaylord Wittock location: Countertops and cabinetry are typically the most expensive items for kitchen remodel. Mostly based on the sheer volume they take up in your kitchen space.

Answer from Jourdan M. from the Wittock Kitchen and Bath Birmingham showroom location: That all depends on your own definition of difficult and/or costly! If you are thinking about doing a quick bathroom update, moving fixtures will be neither easy nor cheap. However, if you are planning on gutting the bathroom, moving drain lines around is fairly straightforward when the bathroom is down to the studs.

Answer from Lauren B. from the Gaylord Wittock Kitchen and Bath location: Decide your budget. This is extremely important, as there are an infinite number of options for everything in today’s market.

Next, decide what holds the highest value. Is it the aesthetic, staying on budget, increased functionality? Remembering the top goal of your project can help when making decisions between different options.

Lastly, do some research online. Websites, like Houzz, are extremely helpful to gain inspiration from. This can help you start to understand and define what style you are attracted to and sharing this inspiration with your designer can help them gain a clear understanding of what you like.

Answer from Karen H. from Wittock Kitchen and Bath in Shelby Township:
The pressure balance valve operates by sensing pressure of the hot and cold water coming in and mixes it accordingly. This is a less expensive option than thermostatic valves.

Thermostatic valves sense the temperature of the water and mixes it with either hotter or colder water to deliver a perfect temperature. This option helps deliver a precise temperature. One perk to this option is that the homeowner would never need to set the valves after the first time if the temperature is accurate for their needs.

Homeowners have many choices to make regarding their projects and construction partners. Before beginning, it’s important to understand the difference between the two most common construction options: Design Bid vs. Design-Bid-Build.
By understanding how these contracts work, a homeowner will have the information he/she needs to decide on the type of remodeling contractor that is just right—one whose approach suits both the comfort level and pocket book.

A.

Design-Build is an agreement between the owner and a Design Build firm to perform both design and construction under a single source of accountability. It allows the architect/designer, contractor and homeowner to develop a cohesive project plan from the very beginning. Ideas are shared freely and evaluated in relation to the owner’s budget and timeline.
